New Girl

When I found out Netflix added  season one of New Girl to it’s instant queue, I was stoked.  I was super excited to curl up in my slanket and binge watch an entire season of a show I’ve never managed to catch. And that’s exactly what I did over the course of 3 days(What?! I’m unemployed, I don’t have anything else to do!).  I’ve always been a fan of Zooey Deschanel’s personal style so it was no surprise that I fell in love with her character, Jess’, similar style. Here are my 3 faaaaaavorite outfits from season 1!

These multi-colored circle print high-waisted shorts were love at first sight! Look at them! LOOK AT THEM!!!

This dress is so cute. I love the color and print. It’s absolutely adorable paired with that blue cardigan and matching heels.

Black/white striped sweater dress is my favorite of all. I’ve been really big into stripes lately and this dress did it perfectly.

Do you love Jess Day’s style as much as I do? There are a handful of blogs that find Jess-inspired outfits and tell you exactly where to get them from! Check out Dress Like New Girl and What Would Zooey Deschanel Wear.

Oh, and add New Girl to your Netflix queue already! It’s great!

Deathly Hallows Part 2!

I saw Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 2 last Thursday at midnight.  I went to a double feature with 5 of my friends and my bf. We watched part 1 at 8:45 and part 2 at midnight. I thought it would seem like a long time to be in a theatre, but it wasn’t. I hardly  noticed. The 45 minute intermission and my “big” purse full of snacks helped. ^_^ I’m so glad we bought double feature tickets. When we arrived at the theatre for our movie around, there was already a HUGE line of people waiting for the midnight movie. NOOBS! Because we were in our theatre first, we got the super cool, limited , 3-d Harry Potter specs! (check them out in the second pic). I kept mine, of course , and I’m going to wear them at every 3-D movie.

I loved the movie. The Deathly Hallows Pt 1 and pt 2, are my favorite movies from the entire series.  I think they were both really well done. They had the perfect amount of humor and  romance, to go along with all of the epic drama of book 7. I can’t wait to see it again and again and again! Was I sad that it was the end? Sorta, but I’m ok. Harry will live in our hearts (and on our DVD and bookshelf) forever!

bop, bop, bop, bop

Ladies and gentleman, I had the longest day in the history of preschool teaching. The kids have been absolute terrors this week aaaaaand today was the absolute worst! I had to deal with not one, but three temper tantrums! One resulted in me being covered with milk/food, the other resulted in me being kicked…repeatedly and the last just fucking annoyed me. Kids *sigh* I love them, but at times I can’t freaking stand them! Because of my long exhausting day, I skipped derby practice tonight. Instead, I’m in my pj’s drinking beer and watching netflix. I’ve been into random documentaries lately. Currently watching a documentary on  retired wrestler, Bret the Hitman Hart.

*shrug* Not sure why I’m watching it. I go through weird tv genre phases. I guess this is the “random documentary” phase.  The other day I watched a documentary about parking lot attendants.

My birthday was wonderful. Ate some cake, hung out with friends and I participated in my first scrimmage. My derby league split  into two teams and scrimmaged each other. It was pretty intense and a lot of fun. My team, the green team, was down two players. One was injured and one was sick, so we had no alternates to come in and relieve us. It was pretty tiring playing the whole time!  My team was in the lead the whole time, but ended up losing in the last few seconds by 3 points. 3 POINTS! It was a good time. Here are some pics!

That's me! Blocking. Just before I hit the pink team's jammer!

Got stuck behind a wall while jamming!

I saw it at midnight (of course) with my bf and 4 other friends. I loved the movie. It stayed mostly true to the book. I’m not one to complain about little differences. I see the movie and book as two entirely different ways of telling the story of Harry Potter. We will be seeing it again next week in Memphis with a friend.

Memphis?! Yep, Memphis! I haven’t been home since January, so I’m coming to town for Thanksgiving. So excited to see my mom, friends, and eat some lovely southern food. I’m looking at you fried okra!

What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

I went to see The Half Blood Prince today! It was awesome. If you don’t know, I’m a huge fan of the books as well as the movies. True, true. Some of the movies have been completely lame, but for the most part I’ve liked them. I love seeing my favorite reads come to life. Even if they do differ from the book. The Half Blood Prince definitely strayed from the book, but I still enjoyed it and I’ll probably see it again. I used the movie poster(above) with Draco Malfoy because I really loved him in this movie (and the book). Half Blood Prince, both movie and book, showed the true depth of his character. And ummm, he’s grown up a lot since the first movies and he is looking rather attractive. ;)

I do have something to complain about. My experience wasn’t completely magical! Besides the first movie (though I did dress up for the first! My friends and I even made little wands! I wish I had pics!), I’ve seen every movie at midnight and I expected this time to be no different. But it was. :( I purchased the tickets two days in advance to assure that I would get to see it at midnight. I THOUGHT I ordered them for Majestic theatre, but upon arrival I realized that I screwed up and ordered tickets for a DIFFERENT theatre. Jeremy and I had to drive back across town to another theatre (paradiso) that we assumed I bought the tickets to. Fortunately, we were right. We grabbed our tickets and went to sit in our theatre only to find it was full…WTF?! Apparently a pre-ordered ticket doesn’t guarantee you a seat. So, we left and I wasted $22.

But I will not go down so easily! I called to complain about it and the manager called me back and left a voicemail. I’m going to talk to him tomorrow and hopefully get my refund or some movie passes. That whole situation is ridiculous and I deserve my money back.
